Restore Canceled Requisitions in Batch

Restore Canceled Requisitions in Batch

Restore canceled requisitions in batch

Use the batch-restore tool to quickly reinstate requisitions that were canceled in error. This reverses the cancellation and returns each requisition to Pending status, ready for review and conversion to orders.

What restoration does

  • Status change: Canceled → Pending
  • Visibility: Restored items reappear in the Requisitions queue
  • Data integrity: Original details (patient, tests, notes, bill-to, diagnoses, etc.) are preserved
  • Optional notes are recommended
  • Audit: The system logs who restored, when, and which requisitions

Note: Only requisitions in Canceled status can be restored. Items already converted to orders are not eligible.

How to restore canceled requisitions in batch

  1. Open the module
  • Go to the Requisitions tab and select “Restore Requisitions.”
  1. Search
  • Click “Search,” apply filters, then click “Find.”
    • Helpful filters: Status = Canceled, Date range, Client/Site, Test/Department, Created Date.
  1. Select requisitions
  • Select rows, Shift-click for ranges, or “Select All” (if available) to choose the requisitions to restore.
  1. Confirm and restore
  • Optionally add a note explaining why you are restoring (recommended for audit clarity).
  • Click “Restore Requisitions,” review the confirmation (count to be restored), and proceed.

      After restoration

      • Verify key fields (patient demographics, payer/bill-to, ICD‑10, collection notes).
      • Reprint labels or requisitions if the collection is imminent.
      • If the requisition came from a standing order, ensure the standing order’s schedule aligns with the newly restored item.

      Best practices

      • Filter narrowly (by date/client/status) to avoid restoring unintended items.
      • Add a brief restoration note (e.g., “Canceled in error during batch cleanup on 12/01; reinstated per Dr. Smith”).
      • Communicate with collection staff/couriers if schedules or pickups were affected.
      • If the original cancellation reflected a deliberate care-plan change, verify with the provider before restoring.

      Reporting and audit

      • All restorations are audit-logged (user, timestamp, list of requisitions, optional note).
      • Use requisition reports/exports to review restored items by date, client.

      Troubleshooting

      • “Restore Requisitions” is disabled: You may lack permissions, or your current filter doesn’t include Canceled items.
      • Some items didn’t restore: They may be locked by another process, tied to an already-converted order, or fail validation. Review the message details.
      • Restored but still not actionable: Check for missing required data (e.g., diagnosis, bill-to) and complete before conversion.
