Cancel Requisitions in Batch
Cancel requisitions in batch
Use the batch-cancel tool to cancel multiple requisitions at once, saving time and eliminating repetitive clicks. You can cancel a handful or hundreds in seconds.
What cancellation does
- Changes requisition status to “Canceled.”
- Prevents further processing or conversion to orders.
- Preserves the record (patient, tests, notes) for audit/reporting.
Note: Requisitions already converted to orders cannot be canceled here. Canceling a requisition does not delete any existing order created from it.
Before you start (recommended)
- Confirm your permissions allow batch cancellation.
- Filter to requisitions that are eligible (e.g., Scheduled/Pending, not Converted).
- If requisitions came from a standing order, ensure the care plan actually changed (you may want to pause/update the standing order as well).
- Communicate with collection staff/couriers if a pickup was scheduled.
How to cancel requisitions in batch
- Open the module
- Go to the Requisitions tab, then select “Cancel Requisitions.”
- Search
- Select requisitions
- To select specific rows, Shift-click for ranges, or use “Select All” for the current result set (if available).
- Choose reason(s)
- Pick the applicable cancellation reason from the list.
- Add a brief note for context (optional but recommended).
- Confirm and cancel
- Click “Cancel Requisitions” and confirm the count to proceed.
That’s it, your selected requisitions are canceled.
Best practices
- Filter first to avoid accidental cancellations.
- Use clear, standardized reasons to improve reporting and downstream communication.
- Add an explanatory note if patient/provider should be contacted or if a standing order needs updating.
- If you routinely cancel a similar set (e.g., by client/date), save your filter set as a custom view.
Reporting and audit
- All cancellations are audit-logged (who, when, reason, note).
- Use requisition reports or exports to review canceled items by date, client, or reason.
