Update Billing Info by Order

Update Billing Info by Order - batch edits and quick invoicing

Use this form to update billing details for a selected group of orders in one pass. Filter the grid, select the target orders, and apply changes to Bill To, Bill Type, and/or Payer. Ideal for correcting batches or standardizing settings before invoicing.

What you can do

  • Batch‑update: Bill To, Bill Type (Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance) and Payer.
  • Pre‑invoice prep: push updated orders directly into Create Invoice.
  • Bulk add insurance: assign payer and bill type to many orders, then quickly enter only the patient‑specific insurance ID per patient.

How to use it

  1. Open Billing → Update Billing Info by Order.
  2. Use the advanced grid filters, search, and grouping (e.g., by Client, Date, Current Payer) to isolate orders.
  3. Select the orders to change (multi‑select supported).
  4. Set the new Bill To, Bill Type, and/or Payer.
  5. Choose an action:
    • Update: apply changes to order billing info only.
    • Update & Bill: apply changes and load the orders into Create Invoice.

Tips and best practices

  • Save grid views you use often (e.g., by Client and Service Month) to speed future runs.
  • Group by current Payer or Bill Type to validate selections before applying updates.
  • For new payer rollouts: bulk set Payer and Bill Type first, then open patient profiles to enter just the insurance ID to finish.
  • Verify eligibility/coverage where applicable before pushing to invoice.

Automation note

  • For high‑volume workflows, OCL LIS can build custom uploads to import patient demographics and billing details to further automate batch updates.
