Price Search — quick, itemized cost estimates

Use the Price Search form to generate a detailed estimate for callers or staff. The tool applies your current Pricing to show an itemized total for a specific billing scenario.

What you can set

  • Bill To: Insurance, Client, Patient (Self‑Pay)
  • Bill Type: Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance
  • Payer: select the insurance to apply payer‑specific prices/rules
  • Client: ordering account (applies client contracts)
  • Patient: optional; applies patient‑specific pricing if configured
  • Tests to be performed: select individual tests or panels
  • Additional fees: e.g., venipuncture, STAT surcharge, travel fee

📘 How to generate an estimate

  1. Open Billing → Price Search.
  2. Select Bill To, Bill Type, Payer, Client, and (optionally) Patient.
  3. Bill Type: Medicare, Medicaid, Commercial Insurance
  4. Payer: select the insurance to apply payer‑specific prices/rules
  5. Add the planned test(s)/panel(s) and any applicable Additional/Travel fees.
  6. Click Search.
  7. Review the itemized list (CPTs, units, price per line) and the grand total.
  8. Print or export the estimate if needed.

Output

  • Line‑by‑line charges with CPT, units, and price
  • Applied fees (e.g., STAT, collection, travel)
  • Total estimated amount

Notes and best practices

  • Estimates reflect current Price Rules; Price Rules override base CPT pricing when matched.
  • Payer‑specific pricing requires selecting the correct Payer.
  • This is an estimate only.
  • Document the date and any assumptions (e.g., no reflex/add‑ons) when sharing estimates.
