Multiple Orders

Convert scheduled requisitions to orders

Turn scheduled requisitions into active orders with a single click—individually or in batches—regardless of how they were created (entered in the LIS by lab staff, submitted via the client web portal, or received through EMR/HL7 interfaces).

What happens on conversion

  • Carry‑forward data: Patient demographics, ordering provider, tests/panels, bill‑to selection, diagnoses (ICD‑10), and notes.
  • Order creation: Assigns accession numbers, applies default department/routing rules, and initializes distribution settings.
  • Outputs (optional): Print labels and requisitions; generate collection worksheets or pickup lists.
  • Audit trail: Logs who converted, when, and from which requisition; preserves the original requisition record.

Single or batch processing

  • Convert one requisition at a time for review-heavy workflows.
  • Select multiple requisitions to convert in bulk for high-volume intake.

Validation and safeguards

  • Completeness checks: Prompts for missing required fields (e.g., DOB, insurance, diagnosis, collection date/time).
  • Duplicate prevention: Detects potential duplicates by patient/test/date rules before creating orders.
  • Rules enforcement: Applies standing policies (ABN, prior auth, client-specific test availability).
  • EMR parity: Requisitions received via EMR interfaces are handled the same way as portal/LIS entries.

Best practices

  • Filter first (by client, date, status) to target the right set for batch conversion.
  • Do not ignore order entry alerts.
  • Capture collection details at the time of conversion to streamline receiving.
  • Use tags (e.g., “Stat,” “Home Draw”) during conversion for routing and tracking.
