Toxicology — Batch Export (single-column order-run for instrument uploads)
Use the Toxicology Batch Export form to create an Excel file for instruments that do not support host query. The export produces a single column where each row combines the order number and the run number in the format orderNumber-runNumber.
Output format
- One column, one value per row: orderNumber-runNumber
- Run number is zero‑padded to two digits by default (01, 02, 03, …)
- Each time an order is exported, its run number automatically increments by 1
Example rows:
12032500001-01
12032500001-02
12032500002-01
📘 Instructions: Export a batch
- Open Toxicology → Batch Export.
- Apply filters (e.g., date range, client/site, test/panel, status) and click Find.
- Select the orders you want to include.
- Optionally review current run counts (if displayed) to understand what the next export will generate.
- Click Export to Excel to generate the file.
- Upload the Excel file to the instrument per the instrument’s procedure.
Important: Exporting increments the run number for each selected order. Avoid exporting the same order multiple times unless you intend to increase its run count.
Best practices
- Export only the orders you plan to run to prevent unintended run number increments.
- Keep a dated archive of exported files for traceability (e.g., tox_export_2025-01-15.xlsx).
- Confirm your instrument’s expected format (single column, no extra headers/spaces). If a header is required, configure accordingly.
- Coordinate export timing with instrument batches to minimize duplicates.
Troubleshooting
- Instrument rejects the file: Ensure there is exactly one column with the format orderNumber-runNumber and no extra whitespace or headers (unless required).
- Unexpected run number: Remember that run numbers increase on export; if previously exported, the next file will show the next count (e.g., -02, -03). Contact an admin if a reset is needed by policy.
- Missing orders: Broaden filters (date/status/test) or clear any saved views that limit results.
