QC - Ranges (valid limits per test and lot)

Use the Ranges advanced button in Lot Setup to define the valid target ranges for each test linked to a control lot. These limits (e.g., target mean, SD, acceptable low/high) drive QC evaluation and  Levey–Jennings charts.

What you can set (typical)

  • Target/Mean and Standard Deviation (SD)
  • Acceptable Low/High (numeric limits) or qualitative pass/fail criteria (if applicable)
  • Units and method/instrument context (if supported)
  • Effective dates and status (optional)

Ranges apply specifically to the selected Lot and its associated Tests/Controls.

📘 Instructions: Add ranges to lots

  1. Click QC.
  2. Click Lot Setup.
  3. Click the Ranges advanced button.
  4. When the form opens, enter the required information for each associated test (e.g., mean, SD, low/high, units).
  5. Click Add to save.

Tips

  • Ensure units match the test setup to avoid false flags.
  • Enter manufacturer targets, then adjust based on your lab’s validation as needed.
  • If multiple instruments require different limits, create instrument-specific ranges (if supported) or note in Comments.
