QC - Control Setup (define control materials and associations)

Use the Control form to add new control definitions or edit existing ones for quality control monitoring. Controls link to specific tests, instruments, and lots so your QC results can be captured (manually or via interface), trended, and evaluated.

What a Control represents

  • A control material and level (e.g., Level 1โ€“4) used to verify assay performance.
  • The anchor for associating Tests, Instruments, and Lots so results flow into the correct QC records.
  • The source of display names and optional comments that appear on QC logs and charts.

What you can configure (typical)

  • Identity: Control Name, Level (select 1 of 4 categories), Active status.
  • Transmission mode: Interface (instrument feeds results) or Manual (users enter results).
  • Associations: Tests, Instruments, and Lots tied to this control.
  • Comments: Internal notes or use instructions.
  • Other: Units; target mean/SD or acceptable ranges by lot; validity/expiration dates; matrix.
