EDI Log

EDI Log - claim transmissions to the clearinghouse

Use the EDI Log to review batches of claims sent to your clearinghouse. Entries are grouped by Bill Type and stamped with the transmission Date/Time, showing how many claims were included in each batch. The More Options menu lets you summarize claim counts across selections, view batch details (claim list), and generate CMS‑1500 paper claims when needed.

What you can do

  • View transmissions grouped by Bill Type with Date/Time and Claim Count
  • Select multiple rows and summarize the total number of claims (More Options → Summary)
  • Open batch Details to see the list of claims included in a transmission (More Options → Details)
  • Generate CMS‑1500 paper claims for selected batches or claims (for exceptions or payers that do not accept electronic claims)

📘 Instructions: Use the EDI Log

  1. Open Tools → EDI Log.
  2. Set filters (e.g., Date Range, Bill Type) and click Find/Search.
  3. Review transmissions:
    • Columns typically include Bill Type, Date/Time, and Claim Count.
  4. Select one or more transmission rows and click More Options:
    • Summary: Shows the total number of claims across the selected rows.
    • Details: Displays the list of claims included in the chosen transmission; select individual claims if needed.
    • Generate CMS‑1500: Produces paper claims for the selected claims.
  5. Save or print outputs if required by your workflow.

Best practices

  • Use the Date Range and Bill Type filters to quickly isolate the batches you need.
  • Review Details before generating paper claims to avoid duplicate submissions.
  • Reserve CMS‑1500 generation for exceptions (e.g., clearinghouse rejection requiring paper).
  • Keep a record of generated paper claims for audit and follow‑up.

Troubleshooting

  • No transmissions found: Broaden the Date Range or adjust the Bill Type filter.
  • Summary total seems off: Verify which rows are selected before running Summarize.
